At 6 years old I adopted my first pet. It happened to be a dog but over the years my menagerie grew to include cats, chickens, rabbits, fish, pigs, sheep, ducks and at one point, 2 orphaned baby bear cubs. And no, I didn't live in farm country, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California! But I didn't stop there. I also brought home people - classmates, newly made acquaintances and anyone I felt was in need of a friend. No one was ever turned away and that lesson stayed with me throughout the years.

I learned early in life that everyone should have a home, even if its only temporary because having a home gives you a firm foundation, a launch point. With that kind of background, working in the nonprofit sector was a natural. I stayed for 20+ years until I decided to move across country and embark on a whole new life on a completely different coast. Wowee! The District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia area (DMV) was the perfect fit for me with its historic homes and national monuments.

I fell in love with blue crab on Chesapeake Bay, had picnics on the National Mall, experienced theatre-in-the-round at Arena Stage, discovered there are 19 Smithsonian Museums and attended events at Wolf Trap, Strathmore and the Kennedy Center. What’s not to love? First of all, you’ve got 3 states in very close proximity. Technically the District of Columbia is not a state (yet), but it is sandwiched between Maryland and Virginia.

If you love the changing seasons, you’ll love it here. Our winters are mild and one inch of snow usually causes everything to shut down. If you're the outdoors type you'll fall in love with Rock Creek Park. You can go camping, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, boating or simply enjoy communing with nature. If you enjoy the pace of urban living, “the City” (DC) is the place to be. Everything is metro accessible and in addition to national monuments, you will find 5 star restaurants, theater and performing arts outlets and an abundant nightlife.

As I child I was shown that home is not simply a place, it's a feeling, and I try to imbue that concept with every client.
