Every morning, a woman walks her elderly dog past the same building downtown. And every morning, the doorman stops what he’s doing, greets the pup by name, and gives her a gentle pat and a treat.
One day it rained. No walk. The doorman asked the woman—not about her, but about the dog.
“Tell her I missed her,” he said.
